Family recommendation and soaring energy prices sees cousin turn to solar on Tyrone workshop

A COUSIN’S recommendation and soaring energy prices have prompted a resident from Co Tyrone to seek out a solar PV solution for his workshop roof which is being used to generate electricity for his home.
Arnold Little has had a 5KW solar pv system installed on the roof of his workshop in Dungannon by leading renewable energy solutions company, Amber Green Solar.
Mr Little saw it as a positive investment and is looking forward to reaping the benefits over the years to come.
Mr Little said: “I wanted cheaper electricity bills. I had seen the price hikes over in England over the past two to three years and knew Power NI wouldn’t be far behind.”
Earlier this year Power NI announced almost an 18 per cent increase in electricity bills and is one of many energy companies to push up prices.
“The price of oil is also rising and if we do it now, we should see the benefit in the long run. In the summer, if we just put on the emersion heater for 10 to 15 minutes, we do not have to use oil at all to heat the water.
“It was my cousin who encouraged me to get solar pv and I thought, if it’s good enough for him, it’s good enough for me and it is.”
Mr Little was pleased with the helpful service he received from Amber Green Solar who talked him through the options available.
He said: “They were very helpful. They did all they could do and I was happy enough. And so far, so good. Let’s hope the sun keeps shining.”
