Zero carbon home attracts Italian students keen to learn about renewable technologies

Since its official opening hoards of visitors have come to see how renewable technologies work together to create a home which is sustainable and only costs £300 per year to heat and light. The house in Co Armagh has been visited by politicians including Mark Durkan, Environment Minister.

Basil McCrea gives his full backing for zero carbon construction schemes

Northern Ireland’s first zero carbon home to be accredited by the Government has been described by Basil McCrea as “an exemplary concept”.

Mr McCrea has joined a long list of politicians to visit the zero carbon home in Middletown, Co Armagh which was built by Green Future NI. The house which is 3,000sqft costs approximately £300 per year to heat and light thanks to a blend of technologies installed at the property.

BUDGET 2013: Zero carbon construction company welcomes Chancellor’s Help To Buy Scheme

Chancellor George Osborne has announced the Help To Buy Scheme to open up the housing market to thousands of would-be home owners.

The Help to Buy scheme is aimed to help those people struggling to find mortgage deposits. The initiative will include £3.5 billion for shared equity loans and a Government interest-free loan worth 20 per cent of the value of a new-build house. Green Future NI says this is a step in the right direction.
