Big cheers as iCare floats to victory in Armagh’s St Patrick’s Day parade

The team of volunteers at iCare are delighted to have been announced by Armagh City and District Council as winners of this year’s St Patrick’s Day float competition.

Armagh is famous for its St Patrick’s Day Celebrations and this year didn’t disappoint with over 20,000 attending the float competition. Congratulations to iCare which is a charity which uses business to create a better world in the communities in which it operates.

Food parcels and toys show ‘iCare At Christmas’ for struggling families

Christmas is a time of year where community spirit comes alive and this is definitely the case at iCare and Homecare Independent living.

The support services team will be donating food parcels and toys to families who are struggling this Christmas with food and presents for children. Mairead Mackle, chief executive of Homecare Independent Living said this is “the right thing to do” for the community.

Santa steps in to make couple’s Christmas dream come true at Santa’s Gatelodge

Christmas is always a special time of the year but it’s been made extra special this year for a couple from Newry.

Collie Johnston, 35, wanted to propose to his girlfriend at this year’s Santa’s Gatelodge. But when he couldn’t get any tickets he had to turn to Santa Claus for a little bit of help. So Santa had to pull a few magical strings and managed to get an entire team of people to play cupid so Collie could propose to his girlfriend Debbie.

Northern Ireland gears up for Christmas special as Santa’s Gatelodge prepares to light up

Preparations for the annual magical fundraiser which takes place in Northern Ireland are underway and organisers are calling for volunteers to lend a hand.

Santa’s Gatelodge, which takes place at Milford, Co Armagh every year, attracts 5,000 people from all over Ireland and raises thousands of pounds for people in need.

The event takes place this year from November 28 to December 12.

Brave little Avah granted wish as iCare charity sends family on beach holiday

The charity iCare, which raises thousands of pounds every year to help people in need, have granted an iCare Wish to this brave toddler – Avah McGinty.

Avah suffers from Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus so iCare, the charity set up by Homecare Independent Living, granted her an iCare Wish which meant she and her family could go on holiday this year.

The charity, set up by Homecare Independent Living in 2010 and which is run by a team of volunteers, grants wishes to people who are in need. The next round of nominations is now open but entries close on October 31.
