Family switches ISA savings for solar PV to get a better return on their money

By Jayne Freer

A FAMILY has swapped its ISAs savings for solar PV panels on their homes in the hope of seeing a better return for their money.

Terry Francis, his brother and son, each had systems installed on the roofs of their homes in Bangor, Holywood and Richhill by Amber Green Solar, Northern Ireland’s trusted solar PV energy solutions company.

Mr Francis said the move to install solar PV a year ago was a family decision and made for the financial and environmental rewards.

He said: “We wanted to put solar PV in for various reasons, environmental but also payback and interests. We had money in ISAs and whenever we ran the figures through spreadsheets, it came out better payback for a solar PV system. So it was a mixture of getting payback on your money and helping the environment, so we pushed forward with solar panels.”

Mr Francis said “Solar PV is the way to go in this day and age” and is encouraging anyone thinking of going down a similar path to ensure they do their research and get recommendations from people who have had them installed.

Mr Francis said that his experience with Amber Green Solar had “matched every promise they had made”.

He added: “I sound like I’m selling for Amber Green but I am not in any way, but my experience has been second to none and I would definitely, definitely recommend Amber Green and to get solar pv installation by them.”

Robert McNeill, a senior consultant with Amber Green Solar, said: “We are so pleased that Mr Francis and his family have been pleased with the level of service that Amber Green Solar provided.

“These installations are excellent examples of our strength in the solar pv marketplace. We are delighted to have Mr Francis with us as a valued customer.”

Earlier this year when he was in post, Alex Attwood, Environment Minister, www.doeni.gov.uk announced that farmers, schools and businesses in Northern Ireland no longer have to apply for planning permission to put solar panels on the roofs of their buildings.
