IRELAND’S leading home care provider has been announced as a finalist in this year’s Irish News Workplace and Employment Awards.

The awards, sponsored by Tughans, Liberty IT, Investors in People, H3 Healthcare Insurance, Tesco and Power NI, will be hosted by BBC journalist Karen Patterson in Titanic Belfast on June 19, with Margaret Byrne, chief executive at Sunderland FC, as guest speaker.

Homecare Independent Living have been announced as finalists in five categories. The categories are; Innovative Employer, Career Inspiration, The Right Place To Work, Work Life, Health and Well Being and the Workplace Excellence category.

Speaking about the awards, Mairead Mackle, chief executive, said: “We are delighted to be a part of the Irish News Workplace and Employment Awards. Homecare is a company which is innovative in its approach to developing new products, services as well as our people skills. We are socially responsible which we were commended for in our recent Investors in people accreditation.

“As well as that, we demonstrate a planned approach by encouraging our staff to have a work-life balance and we promote health and well-being among our teams. We are a company which has created an outstanding workplace based on our iCare values which contributes to our workforce being committed and motivated.”

New to the categories this year is the Career Inspiration award which focuses on key strategic partnerships between businesses and educational organisations.

Mairead Mackle added: “This is a fantastic category as it’s important to recognise the role companies play in mentoring people into their chosen career paths. We collaborate with Southern Regional College and mentor students through the Career Academies UK. It’s vitally important so it’s good to see this new category.”
