We are a team of media law trained journalists and editors who create content which you can use across all of your publishing platforms.

MGMPR was set up by me, Eleanor McGillie, in August 2012. I have worked in the media and public relations industry for 20 years as a journalist, news editor and editor working in print, broadcast and digital media.

I started out working in Northern Ireland in the Tyrone Times and spent my weekends compiling news for radio stations and then reading the live bulletins, on the hour, every hour.

But, I got bored and wanted to work in a more pressured environment so I moved to England in 2004 to work on the Herald Express as a senior journalist. This was a fantastic start to working in a daily newspaper environment. But it was a local daily covering south Devon, and, as much as I loved it, and the people, I then was promoted in-house to become the Assistant News Editor of the Western Morning News – a fantastic daily newspaper which covers Devon, Cornwall, South Somerset and west Dorset. A year later I became Deputy News Editor and 11 months after that I became News Editor of the Western Daily Press – again, a daily newspaper which covered from Swindon right down the whole South West of England.

There was always a commercial element of my job by working on major campaigns and key specialisms for me were agriculture, renewable energy, tourism, rural issues, food and drink, aviation, horse racing, housing, politics, coast and countryside issues and more. I absolutely loved every minute.

So, you can image the amount of ‘press releases’ I have received in my time. Many of these were used and many were spiked because they weren’t stories – they were just corporate bumph from PR agencies which simply didn’t meet the mark.

So, I saw a gap in the market and decided that I should move back to Northern Ireland and combine brands and journalism and work for myself.

That’s basically it.
