Woman fighting breast cancer says charity reminded her ‘it’s good to be alive’

Ireland’s leading homecare provider Homecare Independent Living set up the iCare charity in 2010.

iCare raises money throughout the year so it can grant iCare Wishes to people in the communities in which it operates. Roxanne Mallon is a 29-year-old woman who is battling with breast cancer. Teachers' strike - INTO members will be striking on Wednesday moring for a half day strike action following the results of a ballot before Christmas.

INTO to tell Minister that lack of budget is ‘an unacceptable ransom’ on education

INTO is Ireland’s largest teachers’ union. On Friday, over 200 delegates will be in Limavady for the annual Northern Conference.

John O’Dowd, Minister for Education, is the guest speaker during the public session but he will be hearing from Gerry Murphy, the Northern secretary, who will tell the Minister that lack of budget is ‘an unacceptable ransom’ on education. INTO has started a ballot of its members.

Markethill High School one of top three non-selective Controlled Schools in NI

Markethill High School has been ranked by the Irish News as one of the top three Controlled non selective schools in Northern Ireland in this year’s annual listings

The school, which offers pupils 27 GCSE subjects in-house, offers one of the strongest and broadest curricula for its pupils in the whole of Co Armagh. This year the school celebrated its highest ever pass rates in GSCE English, currently sitting at 19 per cent above the NI average.
