By Eleanor McGillie
THE team from Co Antrim based Hyde Farm Feeds are looking forward to welcoming farmers to stand 66 at Sheep NI 2013, the biannual sheep event organised by the Northern Ireland regional committee of the National Sheep Association in Ballymena Livestock Mart on July 1.
The event has attracted a wide range of sponsorship, including new sponsors, Abo Wind Energy, Autoline insurance, and Novartis Animal Health, as well as the return of Caltech Crystalyx, Dunbia, McCaughan Animal Health, Shearwell, and Ulster Bank.
Andrew Hyde, owner of family run Hyde Farm Feeds and Stonebridge, said his team are looking forward to this year’s event in order to showcase their popular feeds such as Pedigree Sheep, Ewe Crunch, Intensive Lamb and Lamb Starter.
The team will talk farmers through the benefits of their feed ranges which will be on display alongside a range of photographs which will highlight to show goers the physical benefits of the feeds.
The ration for Pedigree Sheep was designed by Hyde Farm Feeds for pedigree ewes, lambs and rams to be fed prior to and during the showing and sale season. The ration uses top quality proteins, energy sources and essential oils to optimise ruminate function growth and confirmation. This pedigree muesli has been used by farmers for many years and has achieved many successes in the showing world.
The Ewe Crunch ration was designed specifically by the company for ewes maintaining condition fertility promoting milk production and to achieve fit healthy lambs. This ration also uses top quality proteins, energy sources and essential oils to optimise a productive flock.
The Intensive Lamb feed is a highly palatable muesli which was designed for lambs as a high energy finishing mix for lambs on grass or housed. In order to achieve weight gain, the ration uses top quality proteins, energy sources and essential oils.
The Lamb Starter muesli is a top quality feed and was designed as a highly palatable creep feed to give lambs the right start in life. It is manufactured using top quality raw materials, vitamins and minerals that are essential for a healthy productive lamb. This feed can be fed ad lib from three weeks old and onwards.
Mr Hyde said: “It is our policy to only select premium raw materials from approved sources with strict trace ability, with the vitamins and minerals being specially manufactured to our own specifications. All the cereals ie Barley, Wheat and Oats are quality assured and sourced only from Northern Ireland Farmers. Hyde Farm Feeds are carefully formulated, using only the highest quality raw materials and designed to meet the requirements of today’s high performance ruminant animals.
“Our stand is indoors this year and we encourage all farmers to come and have a chat with us. This show is not only a great platform to promote our products but it is a great opportunity to catch up with our current customers and future customers.
“We will have a display of photographs which I have taken myself which will highlight our current customers showing off just how effective our feed ranges are with their stock.
This year’s event sees a number of new attractions, including a commercial sheep stock judging competition, being run in conjunction with the YFCU, and an open fleece competition, with support from the BWMB.
