INTO, Irish National Teachers’ Organisation, will be announcing the results of a ballot tomorrow which will decide whether teachers have voted for industrial action.

Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO) says budget cuts will have devastating effects on our community, economy and children’s education. It argues the £1million being spent on teacher suspensions for example is grossly over excessive. INTO says ‘enough is enough’.

INTO members say ‘dysfunctional’ educational system lacks value for teachers

The Education Minister, John O’Dowd, was guest speaker at the Northern Conference of INTO in Limavady last week where over 200 delegates gathered.

INTO is Ireland’s largest teachers’ union. On Friday, over 200 delegates will be in Limavady for the annual Northern Conference.

John O’Dowd, Minister for Education, is the guest speaker during the public session but he will be hearing from Gerry Murphy, the Northern secretary, who will tell the Minister that lack of budget is ‘an unacceptable ransom’ on education. INTO has started a ballot of its members.

Armagh City Council extends community partnership with Markethill’s Recreation Centre

Armagh City and District Council announce it is to extend its partnership with Markethill High School by continuing its support for the community sport and leisure initiative which promotes health and well being for the entire community.

The Recreation Centre has been hugely successful so far with both the school staff and pupils using the facility but also the wider community who come to the school in the evenings with their family members in order to get fit.
