Markethill High School is ranked in NI’s top five best non selective controlled schools at GCSE

The 2012 Annual Examination Results released by the Department of Education have been compiled into league tables by the Belfast Telegraph.

The Belfast Telegraph analyse the results by putting all schools into an order of how well they perform at GCSE level. The results have found Markethill High School is ranked in NI’s top five best non selective controlled schools at GCSE. The ranking is a significant achievement.

Dundalk Institute of Technology students explore opportunities for zero carbon homes

Dundalk Institute of Technology students have visited the Green Future NI zero carbon home as part of their Doing Business in Emerging Markets course.

The house addresses critical questions around affordable, energy efficient homes for social housing associations, the government, developers and homeowners. The students examined the business opportunities of this zero carbon home.

Education inspectorate places school as practice leader for literacy and numeracy

Markethill High School is a school of “very good practice” in literacy and numeracy, according to the Educational and Training Inspectorate.

The school, headed by principal James Maxwell, was assessed recently on how it has developed literacy and numeracy initiatives in the past three years and how its practice can then be shared with other schools across the province. The school is campaigning for a new build and sixth form.
