Emersons and MGMPR team up for PR therapy as £2million city investment rolls out
By Eleanor McGillie
Times have been tough on the high street as businesses climb out of the dark years of recession.
But things are on the up for one high street in Northern Ireland as Armagh city’s longest established supermarket invests £2million in a move which will secure up to 150 jobs.
Emersons is a 125 year old family run supermarket which has been serving the local community for generations. It is a supermarket which has always remained loyal to its customers and its customers have always remained loyal to it. It offers convenience, warmth and a friendly service. Staff know their customers so value is not just about low prices – it’s about maintaining relationships.
The expansion plan will incorporate a refurbishment of the existing supermarket which will enhance the shopping experience for all customers making it the most convenient store in the city to shop in.
But not only that – it is increasing its offering by incorporating the re-location of the city’s Post Office and also Uluru Bar & Grill which will provide the city with a social hub for entertaining in the heart of Armagh’s historic market square.
The benefits of such an expansion are endless for the high street. Not only does it show Emersons has confidence in the high street but it is also giving fellow traders confidence for the future.
Emersons recruited the team at MGMPR to tell the story of the £2million investment, to assist with consumer engagement, build brand awareness, build campaigns and drive this new stage of their business forwards.
We have been working closely with the management team to put in place a communications and marketing plan which will drive forwards this reputable family run business. We assist in managing the stakeholder engagement process which includes the Post Office Ltd, traders and consumers.
This is such an enjoyable project for us to work on. We are passionate about people in our community supporting local businesses, we are passionate about helping businesses succeed and we know what makes a customer’s shopping experience a happy one and what doesn’t.
We have years of experience promoting the ‘think local – buy local’ message. In 2007 our director Eleanor McGillie led a Think Local campaign which got the support of the leading UK politicians including David Cameron who personally endorsed the campaign at a live Q&A session and also in the House of Commons.
We love working with clients who place a huge value on connecting with their customers. Afterall, like all businesses, including our own, the customer experience is what will catapult you forwards.
