Homecare Independent Living team win Business Eye ‘Training in Healthcare’ Award

By Eleanor McGillie

THE team at Homecare Independent Living are celebrating winning the Business Eye ‘Training in Healthcare’ Award at a gala ball in Belfast.

The award, which was open to private sector training organisations, public bodies, health authorities or education establishments which offer health-related training, recognises the high standards of commitment shown to its employees.

Mairead Mackle, Chief Executive of Homecare Independent Living, picked up the award along with Joan Boylan, Quality and Training Manager.

Speaking about the award, Mairead Mackle said: “This award specifically sets out to recognise an organisation which has committed time and dedication to delivering exceptional standards of healthcare training via innovative training programmes, methods, equipment and outstanding customer service.

“We have offices in Armagh, Belfast, Magherafelt, Ballymena, Sligo, Dundalk and Dublin and employ 1,200 people. Our training achievements reflect the high standard of care which is being delivered through each of our service departments – housing, nursing, support, peripatetic and domiciliary.”

Homecare Independent Living runs its own innovative training programmes such as the Management Development Programme through the Institute of Learning and Management (ILM), it delivers NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care and all housing, support and healthcare teams are trained with NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Health and Social Care and FETAC Level 5.

Joan Boylan, the Quality and Training Manager, said: “Training is at the forefront of everything we do. Our teams do not go out into the community unless they are trained to high standards. Our training was recently commended by the Investors in People inspectors, who, in their recent accreditation report, said Homecare continues to provide first class induction and training following recruitment.

“We are thrilled to have beaten off the competition to pick up the Business Eye ‘Training in Healthcare Awards and look forward to continuing to build on our standards.”
