Big cheers as iCare floats to victory in Armagh’s St Patrick’s Day parade

By Claire Pender

AN Armagh based charity is delighted to announce it has won first prize in the St Patrick’s Day float competition organised by Armagh City and District Council.

The competition, which attracted floats from right across the county, entertained 20,000 people who descended in the ecclesiastical capital on St Patrick’s Day.

Speaking on behalf of iCare, Charlene McCoy, an iCare committee member, said they were delighted when they received the news.

She said: “It really was a fun day out but to have the added bonus of wining makes it even more rewarding. I would like to give a huge thanks to all the staff who volunteered their time to help man the float.

“Projects like this make our jobs so much more rewarding especially when we can give back to the community. This win supports iCare’s vision of using the power of business to create a better world.”

iCare was founded in September 2010 by Homecare Independent Living and the work it carries out empowers communities to create a better world through acts of kindness.

The charity, which is based at The Gatelodge in Milford, is run by a team of employees of Homecare Independent LivingIts aims are to improve the lives of older people, eliminate social isolation as much as possible, use the power of business to create a better world and also to put life back into old buildings by encouraging community participation.
