Emerson’s Foundation funding to be granted for vital community life lines

The Emerson’s Foundation is an organisation set up by Emerson’s Supermarket and Uluru Bar & Grill to help transform the local communities.

The foundation’s committee has announced it is to donate £1,000 to the Air Ambulance Northern Ireland Fund and £150 to buy paediatric pads for the Caledon Village defibrillator. The Richhill Apple Harvest Fayre will take place again this year on October 29 after two successful fayres which have attracted thousands of people.

Housing crisis is looming as ICTU warns against privatisation of NIHE portfolio

Northern Ireland is on the verge of a housing crisis if plans continue to transfer more and more Housing Executive stock to the voluntary sector.

Brian Campfield, President of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU), told delegates at the biennial conference that if the Housing Executive sells its portfolio of houses, then people would no longer be able to afford private rents, and, as a result, education and health would also suffer and jobs would be lost.

£150,000 investment announced for Markethill High a ‘step in the right direction’

The Department of Education have announced a £150,000 investment for Markethill High School – a move which has been welcomed by the school.

Principal James Maxwell said the £146,300 investment for the provision of prefabricated accommodation shows the Education Minister is taking positive steps to provide better facilities for the school and its pupils.
