Visit stand to win £4,200 of solar pv panels with AmberGreen Energy at Balmoral Show
By Eleanor McGillie
PEOPLE attending this year’s Balmoral Show will have the chance to win 3KW of solar worth £4,200 by entering into a draw at the AmberGreen Energy stand AP12 in the Agri-Pavillion.
Dwyer O’Neill, chief executive of the company, will be joined at Balmoral by the team from AmberGreen Solar, a subsidiary company of AmberGreen Energy, and says a warm welcome awaits everyone.
Mr O’Neill said: “We are very much looking forward to seeing our customers at Balmoral as well as welcoming anyone else who wants to learn about solar power, wind and anaerobic digestion. We have experts at our interactive stand and we can guarantee that everyone visiting us will walk away with the most up-to-date information about renewable technologies.
“A few weeks ago the Environment Minister Alex Attwood announced that, from April 30, farms, businesses and schools no longer have to apply for planning permission in Northern Ireland for solar energy installations.
“By doing so, the Minister has removed red tape which has been a barrier for many. We are delighted that Minister Attwood has made these planning amendments as it sends a clear signal that our Executive is backing up its commitment to make Northern Ireland a leading green economy within Europe with positive, progressive actions.
“We work with farmers and agri-food businesses across Northern Ireland and we know that planning permission has been an obstacle for some. Farmers understand the benefits of installing solar panels because of the long-term revenue and carbon saving benefits it will bring. Now that it has become permitted development it’s time to take the next positive steps to achieving their goals.”
Mr O’Neill said this announcement by the Minister was very timely ahead of Balmoral because it gives people the chance to think about how a solar PV installation can benefit their business before coming to the show to speak to the experts.
Mr O’Neill added: “Targets have been set by the Government and everyone has a responsibility to help those targets be achieved by 2020. Technologies such as solar panels, heat pumps, biomass boilers and fuel storage containers all contribute to reducing the impact of climate change.
“We get more than enough sunlight in Northern Ireland to make commercial solar feasible. A lot of people, especially poultry and dairy farmers, are recognising the benefits and have already had solar installations in spite of previously going through the planning process.”
Mr O’Neill said the team at AmberGreen are very excited about their attendance at Balmoral Show.
“We are really looking forward to being part of Balmoral Show at its first year on the old Maze site. We look forward also to welcoming children to the stand who will be able to have a bit of fun with our two sheep, Wooly and Wolly, our life sized model sheep, will be more than up for posing for photographs with children visiting us with their parents.”
The team at AmberGreen are encouraging everyone to come to stand AP12 and fill out an entry form in order to be in with a chance of winning 3KW of solar and free installation.
Mr O’Neill added: “This is a great opportunity for someone to win the chance to have a system which will produce electricity for them. This is the first step to embracing green energy solutions. People have to fill out a simple draw form. If you are not in, you won’t win. We will see you at AP12.”
