Significant £2M investment paves the way for better home care solutions

By Eleanor McGillie

IRELAND’S leading home care provider has announced a £2million investment in its technology systems and car fleet which will strengthen the company’s position in the Irish home care marketplace.

Homecare Independent Living, which officially opened its office in Strandhill in Sligo, announced the £2million investment in technology and telecommunications systems as well as an expansion to the company’s rapidly growing car fleet.

The company, which specialises in domiciliary care, home nursing, palliative care, peripatetic and floating support in addition to housing and maintenance services, employs 1,200 healthcare professionals.

Homecare’s chief executive Mairead Mackle said the investment reflects the company’s innovative approach to continually improving its standards of service.

Mrs Mackle said: “We are a solutions driven company and we continue to invest in our people, in our systems and in our car fleet to ensure we continue to provide a first class home care service all over Ireland.

“Our innovations in technology will allow better visibility for healthcare professionals into the home which will reduce the burden on the health service.

“We are digitising our systems and improving standards of service and reporting which will underpin us as leading the way in the community healthcare sector.”

The announcement of its significant investment in technology, software development, advanced staff training and transportation, is part of the drive to enhance housing and care services in both rural and urban areas across the country.

The company began operating in 1995 when it delivered  20,000 hours of care. Last year it delivered one million hours of care and support with a team of 1,200 healthcare professionals and carers working throughout Ireland providing services to almost 3,000 clients.

The official opening of the company’s Sligo office, at Sligo Airport Business Park, was attended by representatives from the Health Service Executive, charities, clients, lecturers and health care professionals.
