Markethill High School one of top three non-selective Controlled Schools in NI

Markethill High School has been ranked by the Irish News as one of the top three Controlled non selective schools in Northern Ireland in this year’s annual listings

The school, which offers pupils 27 GCSE subjects in-house, offers one of the strongest and broadest curricula for its pupils in the whole of Co Armagh. This year the school celebrated its highest ever pass rates in GSCE English, currently sitting at 19 per cent above the NI average.

The Uluru team strikes while the oven is hot for #OneMoreMonth

Uluru Bar & Grill will be relocating to the new Emersons building in a move which will enhance the dining experience for all.

The team however will continue to serve food until February 1 at its current premises in Market Street for #OneMoreMonth. The date of the new opening will be announced in due course. Uluru has been mentioned in The Michelin Guide 2014/15 and is the only restaurant to be listed in The Good Food Guide 2015 for Co Armagh.

Great start to New Year as duo raise £30,000 for vulnerable children during epic challenge

Rick Stein’s Head Chef Stephane Delourme and Peter McGahan, owner of Worldwide Financial Planning have raised £30,000 for Cornish charities.

The pair created the Celtic 7 Marathon Challenge last year which saw them running seven marathons in seven Celtic countries. Stephane and Peter’s challenge has come to an end and they are overwhelmed by the support shown by the media, their families, friends, business associates and the public.

The future is bright as Markethill High School students celebrate news that the SELB is awarding it a £500,000 hockey pitch.

The state-of-the art 2G synthetic hockey pitch will serve the High School pupils and the broader community for decades to come. The Under-16 boy’s team are Taylor Cup Champions and are celebrating being through to the semi-final of the prestigious Prior Shield. This pitch will be a huge push for school hockey.

Fighting for pink again as ‘AmberGreen Energy Tour of Ulster’ is announced

The Tour of Ulster is Ireland’s longest established cycling race and since it was established in 1957 its popularity has rocketed.

In 2015, cyclists from around Europe will travel to Northern Ireland to take part in the ‘AmberGreen Energy Tour of Ulster’ which will take riders from Stormont, to Newry, onto Armagh and finishing in Cookstown. The tour is embedded in the racing calendar and is a highlight of the racing year.
